Project for optimization of Cerro Dominador’s Likana CSP Plant receives environmental approval

The request for approval asked to increase the project’s power generation capacity from 450 MW to 690 MW, which will position it as one of the most relevant plants in the world.

Antofagasta, October 18, 2021. The Environmental Approval (RCA) was received this week to make a change, called “Likana CSP Plant Optimization,”  to the Likana CSP Plant Project. This optimization involves increasing the project’s capacity from 450 MW to 690 MW, which will make it one of the highest-capacity renewable energy power plants in the world.

This solar energy project of the Cerro Group entails building 3 storage-capable solar towers that will produce and store 100%-renewable clean energy available at all times.

The Likana CSP Plant project, located in the municipalities of Calama and Sierra Gorda, will be the second concentrated solar power project of the Company. This year, the Cerro Dominador Solar complex of the Company was connected to the National Grid (SEN).

The Company has requested other changes additional to the project capacity increase, such as in the layout of the site facilities and camps and in a segment of the power transmission line route.

This complex will be built gradually, as the Company signs contracts.
